Is it possible to engage popular action to protect human rights without a populist approach? What is life like as a professional contemporary artist in Australia? How can training in music, the humanities, or creative arts, translate to building a unique career?

Applying creative solutions to social issues can lead to individuals building exceptional careers.

We invite you to join us at our postgraduate roundtable event, ‘Creative Links’, and to hear from our expert panel of academics as they discuss why their work matters to the world around us and how you too can make a difference.

Our academics will engage with the latest innovative thinking in the areas of education, music, teaching, creative and visual arts, music, architecture, and democratisation.

This event will suit anybody interested in building a career by linking music, humanities or creative arts to industry.

There are three components to this event:

Postgraduate information session: where you can speak to academic members of staff about your future postgraduate study opportunities in these fields.

Creative links symposium: bite-sized talks from experts in education, architecture, music, creative arts and democratisation.

Speakers will include Lindy Lee, one of Australia’s foremost contemporary artists, who will be discussing life as a professional artist in Australia.

Also to give a talk will be Dannielle Celermajer, who will explore how ideas can be transitioned from places like Universities into the field and what academics can do to improve human rights. Is it possible to engage popular action to protect human rights, while avoiding the ‘traps of the simple’ or should we support a creative populist approach like the Kony Video?

Interactive Displays and Performances: featuring performance artist Renny Kodgers, an interactive smart slab created by students from the Interaction Design and Electronic Arts program, as well as a live performance from the Dan Laboyrie trio.

This event will be held on Wednesday 16 May from 5 – 7:30pm at the Seymour Centre. Registrations are essential and there is no cost for this event.

A college with a difference

6 06 2011

College Australia is a college with a difference. Our invested approach to delivering unique and exciting study opportunities with all the support mechanisms of a college located in a capital city. Brisbane is a modern city and a place for people who enjoy choice and welcome a wealth of lifestyle options to complement a serious study program.

College Australia was established in 2004 out of frustration by the founder who spent 20 years in hospitality management, and could not find a training group who provided industry relevant training, catered to the needs of each business. With this mind set of listening, adapting training programs to business requirements and a strong customer service focus College Australia was born. From humble beginnings we are now a multifaceted business incorporating traineeships, international students, nationally recognised short courses, Liquor Licensing QLD courses and have a course scope of hospitality, community services, business and management.

Our modern facilities located on the Central Business Districts fringe, in the picturesque South Bank area include well equipped lecture and training rooms all with LCD screens, a dedicated student study centre with internet access, commercial printers, photocopiers, educational reference resources and lounge area. We also own a fully operational restaurant named with the French work Bleu, this is located in the nearby Brisbane suburb of Coorparoo. Students can train and receive valuable experience from training and working in a live work place, in an Australian restaurant.

All College Australia courses are accredited and have quality assurance through the support of the Department of Education, Training and the Arts from the Start of Queensland, the Department of Education, Sciences and Training from the Commonwealth of Australia and the Australian Council of Private Education and Training.

Find out what courses are on offer or for more information visit Studyfinder and click on the College Australia logo.

Relax, get skilled as a Massage Therapist today!

27 04 2011

Interest in Allied Health continues to grow at a rapid rate in Australia. Massage therapists play an important role in helping people maintain their physical and mental well-being by treating soft tissue injuries and dysfunction. There are a lot of different reasons why people study massage and the four most important reasons we have found to study massage are:-

– Satisfaction in helping others: Massage Therapists can truly help the well-being of their clients

– Flexible work hours: You can balance your home and work life – be your own boss.

– Good income potential: Great income potential with massage as your primary full-time activity to meet growing consumer demands or, as a part-time secondary income.

– Unlimited work opportunities: Health care industry spending is expanding rapidly in Australia. With a Diploma of Remedial Massage you can find work in spas, hotels, cruise ships, or with chiropractors, physiotherapists and remedial massage clinics. The demand for mobile and corporate massage is growing; you can even work from home. Over 80% of the massage jobs advertised in Queensland now require a Diploma of Remedial Massage qualification, which we deliver.

There are many exciting opportunities in the massage industry and some of the key reasons our students choose to study massage therapy are outlined below.

– Advanced learning techniques: Classes are fun, memorable and productive.

– Intensive Full Time program: intensive 5 days a week full-time study program is unique, get qualified more quickly than with any other provider. Qualify as a remedial therapist in 6 months instead of 1 or 2 years elsewhere, meaning you could be earning a good income as a therapist much earlier.

–  “Student for Life” warranty: It is unique and something we are very proud to offer. As a graduate of Q Academy you can come back and resit any part of your course for free, even in 10 or 20 years time. This also includes first aid, so you can update your certificate every year for free, for life, which will save you thousands.

– 3 Campuses in S.E. Queensland: Choose to study massage at any one of 3 campuses in South East Queensland, and if you need to move during your course you can continue to study massage at our other locations.
– All inclusive course fees: Our courses are a one off investment that covers all your costs to study massage with us including all manuals and work books and massage oils. In the Master Therapist Course students also received a free first aid course and portable massage table. There are no fees to do tests, resit tests, or fees to catch up missed sessions with a course coach.

– Small classes: We cap our courses which allow more student teacher interaction and more one on one time to make it easier to study massage.

– Money back guarantee: We also have a 7 day money back guarantee from the first day of your course for full fee paying students, which means no risk if you choose to study massage with Q Academy.

– Accredited qualifications:
On completion of the course you are immediately eligible to be registered with the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT) which is the peak professional association in the field of massage therapy in Australia.

So why not visit Q Academy and the courses they offer on Studyfinder now and contact them or enrol into one of their courses today.
